The EMMET COHEN Quartet With Special Guest KURT ELLING
Emmet Cohen’s “Live From Emmet's Place" is a highly acclaimed live music streaming series that was launched in 2020 and has since garnered over ten million views globally. This year, two of the biggest modern forces in Jazz will be streaming live from Hilton Head, performing a full concert together for the first time ever at the Jazz For All Ages Festival!
Emmet Cohen
One of this generation's most pivotal figures in music and the related arts, Emmet Cohen is an internationally acclaimed artist and band leader. Creator of the Masters Legacy Series, he has won numerous awards, including the 2014 American Jazz Piano Competition and the 2019 American Pianists Award. Cohen regularly headlines at top venues like Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Village Vanguard and has performed at major festivals worldwide.
Other notable appearances include several international jazz events which consist of: The Bern, Edinburgh, and Jerusalem jazz festivals, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. Cohen has released over ten albums as leader and he has performed or recorded with Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Jimmy Cobb, George Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Tootie Heath, Houston Person, and Christian McBride.

Kurt Elling
Two-time GRAMMY winner Kurt Elling is renowned as one of the world’s foremost leading Jazz vocalists, celebrated for his robust swing and poetic insight. With a 25-year career, he has won multiple international awards that include: three Prix du Jazz Vocal and two German Echo Awards. He has topped the DownBeat Critics and Readers polls for 14 years and won twelve Jazz Journalists Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year. Elling’s voice is instantly recognizable, embracing listeners with his warm, rich baritone and navigating the full span of his four-octave range as a virtuoso improvisor and a compelling storyteller. He has collaborated with many all-time Jazz greats and performed with prestigious orchestras worldwide.

Sean Jones is a musical chameleon, comfortable in any musical setting no matter the role or genre. After a six-month stint with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis offered him a permanent position as lead trumpeter of the ensemble, a post he held from 2004 until 2010. In 2015, Mr. Jones was tapped to become a member of the SFJAZZ Collective. During this time, he has managed to keep a core group of talented musicians together under his leadership, forming the foundation for groups that have produced and released eight recordings on Mack Avenue Records. His most recent is the 2017 release Sean Jones: Live from Jazz at the Bistro.
Mr. Jones has been prominently featured in recordings and performances with many major figures in jazz, including Illinois Jacquet, Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster, Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Gerald Wilson, and Marcus Miller. He was selected by Mr. Miller, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter for their A Tribute to Miles tour in 2011. He has also performed with the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Youngstown symphony orchestras, as well as Soulful Symphony in Baltimore and a chamber group at the Salt Bay Chamberfest.
Mr. Jones is an internationally recognized educator. He is president of the Jazz Education Network and holds the Richard and Elizabeth Case Chair in Jazz Studies at The John Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute in Baltimore. As well as artistic Director for the NYO JAZZ Program of Carnegie Hall. Previously, he served as chair of the Brass department at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
